  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 ¼ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, then whisk in the flour to make a roux for about 2 minutes.
  4. Slowly add the beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps, and cook until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the milk and cook until the sauce is creamy, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Fold in the cooked noodles and browned beef, stirring until combined.
  7. Finally, mix in the sour cream until fully incorporated and serve hot.

Notes

For added creaminess, you can use a splash of heavy cream with the milk. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days, or frozen for up to three months.
