Description
A warm and creamy beef stroganoff recipe ready in just 30 minutes, perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 ounces egg noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 ¼ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup sour cream
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until al dente, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, for 6-8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat, if desired.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux and let cook for 2 minutes.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking, thickening the sauce for about 3-4 minutes.
- Slowly whisk in the milk until the sauce is creamy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt. Add the cooked noodles and beef to the skillet, mixing well.
- Fold in the sour cream until fully incorporated.
Notes
For a lighter version, use ground turkey or chicken and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Can substitute egg noodles with gluten-free pasta or vegetable broth for a vegetarian option.
