  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 ¼ cup milk

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until al dente, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, for 6-8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat, if desired.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux and let cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking, thickening the sauce for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Slowly whisk in the milk until the sauce is creamy, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt. Add the cooked noodles and beef to the skillet, mixing well.
  7. Fold in the sour cream until fully incorporated.

Notes

For a lighter version, use ground turkey or chicken and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Can substitute egg noodles with gluten-free pasta or vegetable broth for a vegetarian option.
