Description
A comforting dish featuring tender ground beef, crisp broccoli, and a savory sauce, perfect for cozy evenings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
- Cooked rice or quinoa (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it’s beautifully browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Sauté the Aromatics: Toss in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes until the onion softens and turns translucent.
- Combine and Simmer: Stir in the broccoli florets, soy sauce, optional oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. If desired, add the cornstarch slurry and let everything simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes until the broccoli becomes tender and the sauce thickens. Stir in sesame oil and ginger if using, then season to taste.
Notes
For a lighter meal, consider using lean ground beef or turkey. To thicken the sauce, mix cornstarch with water before adding.
