Description
A handheld comfort food powerhouse with tender beef, melted cheese, crispy hash browns, and tangy sauce in a golden flour tortilla. Perfect for hearty, non-vegetarian meals.
Ingredients
1 lb (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
4 hamburger buns (split and toasted)
4 slices American cheese
12 oz (340g) diced hash browns (frozen works best)
6 flour tortillas (10-inch size)
1/4 cup (60ml) beef broth
Butter (for frying hash browns)
Instructions
Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Fry hash browns in butter until golden. Set aside.
Cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Stir in paprika, garlic powder, and beef broth.
Warm tortillas in oven to increase pliability.
Place 1/3 cup beef mixture on bottom tortilla half. Add hash browns and cheese. Cover with top tortilla.
Bake 6-8 minutes until cheese bubbles and edges brown. Let rest 2 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use day-old hash browns for better texture cohesion
Add a thin layer of mayo on the buns for a moisture barrier
Work quickly during assembly to prevent cheese from starting to melt
Try substituting 20% fat-free ground beef with finely chopped mushrooms for a leaner version
