A comforting holiday classic, this Cheddar Bay Green Bean Casserole combines tender green beans with creamy soup and cheddar cheese, topped with crispy onions.

- 1 lb fresh green beans
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 cup cream of mushroom soup (or a plant-based alternative)
- 1/2 cup milk (or any plant-based milk)
- 1/2 cup crispy fried onions
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the green beans.
- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl to create a smooth mixture.
- Fold in the blanched green beans and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish and top with remaining cheese and crispy fried onions.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
Don’t overcook the beans for the best texture. This casserole can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
