- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup Bisquick or all-purpose baking mix
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- Optional: ketchup, mustard, pickles for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Heat a skillet over medium heat and add ground beef and diced onion. Cook until beef is browned and onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and black pepper.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a greased 9-inch pie dish. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the beef mixture. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the meat and cheese in the pie dish. Bake for 25–30 minutes until the top is golden and a knife comes out clean. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider using low-fat cheese or skim milk. You can also substitute ground beef for chicken or turkey, and customize the recipe with your favorite ingredients.
