Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart using a spatula, then add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the beef is fully browned, usually about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Season the meat mixture with salt and pepper, followed by the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the liquid has reduced.
  3. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place two slices of bread, butter side down, on the skillet. Layer a generous amount of the beef mixture and a mix of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter side up.
  5. Grill each side for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is gooey. Remove from skillet and slice in half.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
