Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced thinly
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk (skim or dairy alternative)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Garlic powder (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (3 to 4 minutes).
- Add ground beef and cook until browned (6 to 8 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder. Whisk until smooth.
- In an oiled 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and half of the creamy soup mixture. Repeat once more.
- Top with shredded cheese, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure potato slices are even for uniform cooking. Adding fresh herbs before serving enhances flavor.
