Delicious meatball subs featuring savory meatballs, melted mozzarella, and rich marinara, perfect for cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (or chicken or venison)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, egg, garlic, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into small meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.
  5. While meatballs are baking, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Once meatballs are done, add them to the sauce, coating each ball generously.
  7. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise and fill with meatballs and sauce.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top and place in the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Great for tweaking with different meats or sauces. You can prepare the meatballs ahead of time and freeze them for later use.
