Description

These delightful bars blend the nostalgia of cinnamon rolls with the convenience of a dessert, perfect for brunch or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (for the cinnamon filling)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (for the frosting)
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the frosting)
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for the frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Beat the softened butter with the granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time and the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Put together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mix to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and blend just until combined.
  6. Stir the brown sugar and ground cinnamon together in another bowl.
  7. Pour in the melted butter and mix until it forms a paste.
  8. Spread half of the batter in the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  9. Dollop the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top of the batter in the pan.
  10. Spread the remaining batter over the top, then swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Cool the bars completely on a wire rack before frosting.
  13. Beat the cream cheese and remaining butter until smooth, then gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  14. Mix until well combined, adding milk as needed for spreadable consistency.
  15. Frost the cooled bars evenly and cut into squares or rectangles before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for optimal blending. Cool the bars completely before frosting to prevent melting.
