Description
A warm and hearty casserole with layers of tender potatoes, creamy mushroom sauce, and ground beef topped with cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar)
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gather all your ingredients.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and chopped onion, cooking until the beef is browned and the onion is softened (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- In a large baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, followed by the ground beef and onion mixture. Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the beef layer and sprinkle shredded cheese on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 1 hour, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
Slice potatoes evenly for uniform cooking. Check for doneness after 1 hour and adjust baking time if needed. You can add veggies like bell peppers for extra nutrition.
