- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 ounces Sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 12 ounces Irish beer (or non-alcoholic alternative)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese to enhance the flavor.
- Create a well in the dry mixture and pour in the melted butter and beer (or substitute). Mix until it forms a shaggy dough.
- Knead gently on a floured surface, shape into a round loaf, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Make slashes on top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- While baking, mix the garlic butter topping and brush it onto the warm loaf after baking.
Notes
Feel free to customize with different cheeses or herbs. Let the bread cool before slicing for easier serving.
