Description
A comforting Crème Brûlée French Toast that’s rich, creamy, and topped with a satisfying caramelized sugar crust. Perfect for lazy Sunday mornings!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of French bread (preferably a day or two old)
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Sugar for caramelizing (about 1/4 cup)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well blended.
- Slice the French bread into thick pieces and arrange in a greased baking dish. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and let soak, covered, in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the French toast for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown on top. Caramelize sugar on top using a kitchen torch or broiler, then serve warm.
Notes
Plan ahead for better results by soaking the bread overnight. Monitor the baking closely to avoid burning.
