Instructions
- In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Let the batter rest for a few minutes while you heat the oil in a deep pan over medium heat to about 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm before serving.
Notes
For an egg-free version, substitute each egg with 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce. Use plant-based milk for a dairy-free option.
