Description
Delightful and customizable sugar cookies perfect for football-themed parties, filled with joy and creativity.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
- Various food coloring (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake the cookies for 8–10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on a rack.
- Prepare the icing by mixing the powdered sugar and milk in a bowl. Divide it and add food coloring as desired. Once cooled, decorate the cookies with icing and allow to set before serving.
Notes
Make sure to chill the dough enough for the best results. You can customize the decorations based on your team’s colors or use sprinkles as a fun alternative.
