- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and brown the ground beef, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet; sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft.
- Spread the cooked beef mixture in the baking dish and layer thinly sliced potatoes on top, seasoning with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the potatoes.
- Pour beef broth or water around the edges and drizzle milk on top if desired.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving to make it easier to cut. Customize with your favorite vegetables or cheeses for variation.
