Description

Deliciously crispy homemade hash browns, perfect for breakfast or a savory snack. Easy to customize with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 1 small onion (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil or butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes (and onion, if using).
  2. Rinse the grated potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain and squeeze out moisture with a clean kitchen towel.
  3. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add grated potatoes in an even layer and press down slightly.
  4. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden and crispy, then flip to cook the other side until golden.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

For a cheesy delight, add shredded cheese on top during the last few minutes of cooking. Don’t rush the cooking process to ensure a nice crust forms.
