Description

Tender and flaky cheddar biscuits that are perfect alongside soups, stews, or enjoyed on their own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions, then add buttermilk gradually, mixing until the dough comes together.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll out to about 1 inch thick. Cut into preferred shapes.
  5. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For a crispier biscuit, make sure to keep all ingredients cold. Feel free to experiment with different herbs and cheeses.
