Description
A creamy and spicy Jalapeño Popper Cheese Ball shaped like a football, perfect for game day gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- ½ cup Monterey jack cheese, shredded (plus extra for the ‘laces’)
- ½ cup pickled jalapeños, chopped
- 1 fresh jalapeño, deseeded & finely diced
- ¼ cup green onion, sliced (both green and white parts)
- 8–10 slices of bacon, cooked & cooled
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ cup pecans, finely chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the coating: In a medium bowl, mix together the chopped pecans, diced jalapeño, and half of the cooked bacon. Set aside.
- Make the cheese mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese, pickled jalapeños, green onions, garlic powder, and remaining bacon. Blend until smooth.
- Form the football shape: Roll the cheese mixture into a ball, shape it into a football, and coat it with the pecan mixture. Create ‘laces’ with strips of Monterey jack cheese.
- Serve immediately with crackers or chips.
Notes
For a milder version, reduce jalapeños or use a different pepper. Can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
