  • Author: emilie
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian (if bacon is omitted)

Description

A creamy and spicy Jalapeño Popper Cheese Ball shaped like a football, perfect for game day gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Monterey jack cheese, shredded (plus extra for the ‘laces’)
  • ½ cup pickled jalapeños, chopped
  • 1 fresh jalapeño, deseeded & finely diced
  • ¼ cup green onion, sliced (both green and white parts)
  • 810 slices of bacon, cooked & cooled
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup pecans, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating: In a medium bowl, mix together the chopped pecans, diced jalapeño, and half of the cooked bacon. Set aside.
  2. Make the cheese mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese, pickled jalapeños, green onions, garlic powder, and remaining bacon. Blend until smooth.
  3. Form the football shape: Roll the cheese mixture into a ball, shape it into a football, and coat it with the pecan mixture. Create ‘laces’ with strips of Monterey jack cheese.
  4. Serve immediately with crackers or chips.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce jalapeños or use a different pepper. Can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
