Description

A heartwarming Japanese dish featuring crispy cutlets served over rice and drizzled with savory tonkatsu sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thigh cutlets (or beef if preferred)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup tonkatsu sauce
  • 2 cups cooked rice (jasmine or short-grain rice works best)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to the package instructions and keep warm.
  2. Season chicken cutlets with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up a dredging station with flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. Dredge each cutlet in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
  4. In a frying pan, heat vegetable oil and fry the cutlets for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy.
  5. Drain cutlets on paper towels, slice, and serve over rice. Drizzle with tonkatsu sauce and enjoy!

Notes

Maintain oil temperature to ensure crispy cutlets; do not crowd the pan while frying.
