Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup vermicelli noodles, soaked and chopped
  • 1/4 cup carrots, grated
  • 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the water and mix until it comes together. Knead the dough for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the cabbage, vermicelli noodles, grated carrots, bell pepper, green onions, and soy sauce to create the filling.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls, roll out each ball into a circle, and place a spoonful of filling in the center. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the buns for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Add a splash of water, cover, and steam for 5-7 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

Experiment with different veggies for the filling. For a healthier option, consider using whole wheat flour or baking instead of frying.
