Description
A comforting dish featuring tender pheasant breasts enveloped in a creamy mushroom sauce, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pheasant breasts (or substitute with chicken thighs)
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (cremini, button, or shiitake)
- 1 cup heavy cream (or lighter cream)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- Fresh thyme (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the diced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until onions turn translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season the pheasant breasts with salt and pepper. Add them to the skillet with the mushrooms and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let it simmer for about 10-12 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different mushroom varieties to enhance the flavor. If you prefer a thicker sauce, allow it to simmer a bit longer.
