Description
A comforting breakfast casserole filled with eggs, sausage, and cheese, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices white sandwich bread, cubed
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (substituted as desired)
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk (or milk alternative)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- Prepare the bread by cutting it into cubes and layering it evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Assemble the casserole by spreading the cooked sausage over the bread, adding a sprinkle of cheddar cheese.
- Whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper together until smooth, then pour over the bread and sausage.
- Press down gently to help the bread absorb the mixture, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 40-45 minutes or until golden and set in the middle.
