Description
Savory French Onion Pot Roast is a comforting dish with tender beef, caramelized onions, and a rich broth that’s perfect for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
3–4 lbs beef chuck roast
2 large onions, thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 cup French onion soup
2 tablespoons halal Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
2. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Season roast with salt and pepper, then brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
3. Add sliced onions to the pot and cook until caramelized, 10-15 minutes. Add garlic and thyme, cooking for 1 more minute.
4. Stir in beef broth, French onion soup, and Worcestershire sauce. Return roast to the pot.
5. Cover and place in oven for 3-4 hours, until meat is tender.
6. Remove from oven and let rest a few minutes before slicing.
7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
A fresh green salad pairs well for balance.
Cool completely before storing leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Freeze in a freezer-safe container for longer storage.
Caramelizing onions properly enhances flavor.
Add mushrooms, rosemary, or red pepper flakes for variations.
Slow cooker option: cook on low for 6-8 hours.
