- 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup (4 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the unsalted butter in a large bowl; add dark brown sugar and granulated sugar while warm and whisk.
- Incorporate the room temperature eggs and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and glossy.
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda; gently fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into a prepared 9×9 inch square pan and spread evenly.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes until a skewer inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the baking dish for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
