- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2–3 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- Optional: Chopped nuts or raisins
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Combine with dry ingredients and stir until just mixed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and optionally sprinkle nuts or raisins on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing, then drizzle over cooled bars.
Notes
For gluten-free bars, substitute all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free blend. To make vegan, use flax eggs and a dairy-free butter alternative.
