Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk until smooth and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot milk mixture to the yolks while whisking. Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and stir continuously.
  3. Cook for another minute, then remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla extract until melted. Let cool before layering with bananas and wafers.

Notes
