Ingredients

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 to 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafers
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk until smooth and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot milk mixture to the yolks while whisking. Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and stir continuously.
- Cook for another minute, then remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla extract until melted. Let cool before layering with bananas and wafers.
Notes
