Description

Halloween Chocolate Covered Strawberries are a festive, lighter sweet for spooky season—quick to make, fun to decorate, and perfect for parties. Dress them up as mummies, jack-o’-lanterns, and little Frankensteins for a show-stopping platter everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

2 pounds fresh strawberries

7 ounces white candy melting wafers

4 ounces green candy melting wafers

4 ounces orange candy melting wafers

28 candy eyes

1 black food marker (or black gel icing)

3 teaspoons vegetable shortening

Instructions

1. Wash and thoroughly dry strawberries (any moisture can seize the candy).

2. Melt white candy melts in a microwave-safe cup at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

3. Stir in 1 teaspoon shortening to thin to a dippable consistency.

4. Dip about 12 strawberries in white candy; place on a wax paper–lined baking sheet.

5. Drizzle remaining white candy in thin lines to create “bandages,” then add 2 candy eyes to each.

6. Melt orange candy melts the same way; stir in 1 teaspoon shortening. Dip about 12 strawberries and place on wax paper.

7. Melt green candy melts the same way; stir in 1 teaspoon shortening. Dip remaining strawberries and place on wax paper.

8. Use the black food marker/gel: draw jack-o’-lantern faces on orange strawberries and Frankenstein details (hair, stitches, mouth) on green ones.

9. Refrigerate until set, then serve or store chilled.

Notes

Serving: Arrange on a spooky platter; mix the colors for a fun display. Great for parties, buffets, or kid-friendly treats.

Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator; best within 1–2 days. Line the container with paper towels to absorb moisture.

Tips: Strawberries must be completely dry before dipping; re-warm candy in short bursts if it thickens; add a little more shortening if needed for smooth drips.

Variation: Roll edges in colored sprinkles, edible glitter, or coconut; drizzle contrasting colors; substitute milk or dark chocolate for a classic look.

FAQ:

– Can I use dark chocolate instead of candy melts? Yes—melt gently and add a bit of shortening for smooth dipping.

– How long do they last? 1–2 days refrigerated.

– Can I use frozen strawberries? Fresh is best; thawed berries turn too soft and weep.
