Description

A comforting ground beef steak bake enveloped in a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Mashed potatoes, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the patties by combining ground beef, chopped onion, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Shape into 6-8 patties.
  2. Brown the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side.
  3. Make the creamy sauce by whisking flour in the skillet with the drippings, then gradually adding beef broth and milk until thickened. Fold in sour cream and melted butter.
  4. Arrange the patties in a baking dish, pour sauce over it, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.

Notes

Substitute lean ground beef or use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier twist. This dish can also be made gluten-free by using gluten-free flour.
