Ingredients

- 1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda (for boiling)
- Coarse salt (for sprinkling)
- Optional: melted butter for brushing after baking
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water, let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl, create a well, and add yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix to form dough and knead for 5–7 minutes.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into four pieces. Roll each piece into a 1/2 inch thick rope and cut into 1–2 inch segments.
- Boil water with baking soda, then drop in pretzel bites for 30 seconds on each side.
- Place on a baking sheet, sprinkle with coarse salt, and bake at 450°F for 10–12 minutes until golden brown. Optionally brush with melted butter.
