- 1/2 cup oil or 1 stick (1/2 cup) melted butter
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Mix together oil or melted butter with cocoa powder and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Fold in flour and salt until just combined, then add chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Check for doneness with a toothpick, cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
Notes
For a lighter brownie, use oil instead of butter. Customize with different types of chocolate chips or nuts.
