Comforting and cheesy sliders made with ground beef, sautéed onions, and provolone cheese—perfect for gatherings or busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (preferably 85% lean)
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slider buns (soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls)
  • 68 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons (56g) butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)
  • Optional: hot sauce, sliced jalapeños, pickled peppers, mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom half in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then sauté the onions and bell pepper for 5-7 minutes until soft and golden.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. In the skillet, add the ground beef and cook until browned (5-8 minutes), then drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; taste and adjust seasoning.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture over the bottom buns and layer the provolone cheese on top.
  7. Place the top half of the buns over the filling and brush with a mixture of melted butter and garlic powder.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for 5-7 minutes more until golden and cheese is melted.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before cutting and serve hot.
